TikTok Challenge Showcases Beauty Students’ Work

ºÚ¹Ï³ÔÁÏÍø Make-Up and Beauty students have completed their final year assessment with flying colours due to the ingenious use of technology by their teachers. The ‘Total Look’ end-of-year showcase is usually a competitive and spectacular live event, where models in imaginative make-up and costumes strut their stuff to compelling music and an appreciative audience. Yet, despite COVID-19 lockdown, this year’s students were assessed remotely and combined their exceptional work into two TikTok videos.

‘Total Look’ judges the skills and flair demonstrated in facial skincare, cosmetic make-up and nail care. The students, who were their own makeover models, took before and after videos of their amazing transformations. These were edited together by Hair and Beauty Level 1 student, Leneshia.

Head of School for Beauty Therapy Denise Charles, said: “In the early days of lockdown we worked hard to get all lessons online. We also worked imaginatively on student assignments to make sure that our learners completed their qualifications and achieved just as well, as in any other year.�

Madison, a student on the Theatrical, Special Effects Diploma Level 3, took the transition from college to online teaching in her stride. She said of the experience: “Instead of being in the classroom with our teacher, we were in our Google Classroom where we completed different make-up looks, receiving feedback from both our teacher and peers on the looks we created.�
