ºÚ¹Ï³ÔÁÏÍø to Participate in the Festival of School and College Arts

ºÚ¹Ï³ÔÁÏÍø is delighted to be taking part in the Festival of School and College Arts, taking place on 28 May. The college will post work from Art and Design students at Ealing Green College on the day, using the hashtags #EduArtsFest and #LoveOurColleges with the aim of helping the festival trend on Twitter. The Association of Colleges and nine other education organisations teamed up to create the online showcase.

Festival of School and College Arts

Art plays a vital role in learning, encouraging self-expression and creativity in students. The festival recognises and celebrates the importance of art in education and makes sure the fantastic work created by the students is seen by a wider audience. The festival also aims to provide a badly needed antidote to the misery and disruption caused by the pandemic.

Art and Design Lecturer, Lorna Acikalin said: “We are really pleased to showcase the fantastic work our students create and to celebrate our successes as a college.â€

There is also a college-specific competition as part of the day – ‘Pour Your Heart into Art’ and one lucky artist will win a £50 shopping voucher.

Head of School for IT, Digital and Creative, Gareth McLennan said: “This is our chance to show off our artistic talents by sharing paintings and drawings on Twitter.â€

Association of Colleges Chief Executive David Hughes said: “This is an exciting way to celebrate students in all of their creativity and diversity and it moves us on from all of the negative media about ‘learning loss’ and problems. There’s been lots of focus on colleges and schools over the last year, but too little has been focused on the brilliance of the millions studying and training – I hope this helps to do just that.â€

To view all of the entries or tweet about the competition, use the hashtags #EduArtsFest and #LoveOurColleges. ºÚ¹Ï³ÔÁÏÍø Art and Design Level 2 students taking part in the event include Elyana Guler, Julianna Jerome, Laszlo Falcone Szoke, Sara Debouzorgi, JJ Junkeereeket, Davonte Flavien, Ghalia Haffa and Mariam Eish.

The nine organisations that created the Festival of School and College Arts are the Association of Colleges (AoC), Association of School and College Leaders (ASCL), Confederation of School Trusts (CST), Independent Schools Council (ISC), National Association of Head Teachers (NAHT), the NASUWT teachers’ union, National Education Union (NEU), National Governance Association (NGA), and the Sixth Form Colleges Association (SFCA). It’s also being supported by the Cultural Learning Alliance, which champions a right to arts and culture for every child.
