Aaron Palmer, an exceptional Carpentry and Joinery Level 3 apprentice at ºÚ¹Ï³ÔÁÏÍø, has been announced as a finalist for the prestigious ‘Apprentice of the Year’ category in the upcoming West London Business Awards 2024. Now in its eleventh year, the event is set to take place with a gala ceremony on Friday 16 February 2024 at the internationally famous Twickenham Stadium.
Employed by EE Smith Ltd, a construction contractor operating in upmarket hotels, commercial premises, and luxury apartments, Aaron has honed his skills as an apprentice with the firm for over three years. His daily tasks involve crafting doors, architraving, skirting boards, and panels, contributing to many high-end fit-outs across London.
Reflecting on his career choice, Aaron said, “I enjoy the personal satisfaction of making things. In a few years, I hope to have gained enough experience and saved enough money to set up my own business.â€
Aaron’s journey into carpentry began with a multi-skills course at ºÚ¹Ï³ÔÁÏÍø. Exploring various trades, including brickwork, plastering, plumbing, and electrical installation, he found his passion lay in carpentry. Aaron spends four days a week at work and one day a week at ºÚ¹Ï³ÔÁÏÍø, studying for his carpentry and joinery qualifications. Aaron was Nominated for the ‘Apprentice of the Year’ award by his ºÚ¹Ï³ÔÁÏÍø carpentry teacher, Chris Larkin.
