If you are keen to pursue a successful career in Bookkeeping or as an Accountant, our AAT Level 3 Bookkeeping is the perfect course for you. This qualification will develop complex skills and knowledge necessary to work in a bookkeeping role or to progress to higher level accountancy roles or study. On completing this qualification you will become competent in financial processes including accounting principles and concepts, advanced bookkeeping and preparing financial statements. You will also be introduced to business issues regarding payroll and value added tax (VAT), including an understanding of the documents and reports produced on payroll software, timescales for submissions and payments. This qualification is equivalent to:
- Level 3
- A Level/AS Level (Grades A–E)
- UCAS points: Distinction = 28, Merit = 20, Pass = 16
You will need:
- Five GCSEs at grade 4 or above including English and maths (or Functional Skills in English and maths at Level 2)
- Bookkeeping or Accounting - Level 2
You will also have an interview with our course tutors at enrolment, so we can ensure the course is right for you.
There are two computer-based assessments, scheduled to take place throughout the academic year.
You can progress onto L3 Accounting, employment or apprenticeships.

Financial Accounting: Preparing Financial Statements
This unit provides you with the skills required to produce statements of profit or loss and statements of financial position for sole traders and partnerships using a trial balance. It will also allow you to understand how final accounts have been produced, either manually or automatically through use of accounting software.
Tax Processes for Business
For VAT, you will understand the registration and deregistration rules, including signing up for Making Tax Digital (MTD), and the rules relating to specialist VAT schemes. You will be able to recognise different types of supplies and calculate VAT correctly, understanding the importance of the rules relating to the recovery of input VAT and the sanctions and penalties for inaccuracies, omissions and failure to make submissions and payments within the correct timescales. you will be able to verify the accuracy of calculations, invoices and tax points, and will learn about the correction of error at enrolment, so we can ensure the course is right for you.
Adult Students (19+)
If you will be aged 19 or older on 31 August before your course starts, are resident in London, and have the legal right to stay in the UK for at least 12 months, you may be eligible to study for free, depending on your circumstances and chosen course. For more information, please click here.
