Aviation - Level 1

ABOUT THIS COURSE

This course runs from September to January and offers the perfect foundation for those looking to start or switch to a career in the aviation industry. Upon completion, you’ll have the opportunity to progress to our Cabin Crew course, which begins in February.

Our Level 1 Introductory Course covers key areas of the aviation industry, including airline operations, teamwork, and preparing for employment. You’ll develop the essential knowledge and confidence needed to launch your career in this exciting field.

You’ll also train in our immersive replica facilities - including a mock travel agency, airline check-in and security areas, and our very own Hammersmith Airlines training cabin. These hands-on experiences will help you build practical skills in passenger assistance, customer service, and understanding the responsibilities involved in delivering exceptional service.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

We recommend that you have:

  • Four GCSEs at grade 2 or above, including English and maths​
    or
  • Functional Skills English Entry 3 - Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening (a certificate must confirm all four have been achieved) 
  • Functional Skills Numeracy/Maths Entry 3

You will also need beginners level IT skills 

We will check that the course is right for you at enrolment. 

ASSESSMENT METHOD

Your assessments are designed to match what you’ve learned. All your work will be marked by your tutors, giving you a chance to show off your skills in real-world situations.



You’ll build a portfolio of your coursework, showcasing your progress throughout the course. Plus, you’ll get hands-on experience through practical assignments and receive feedback from your tutors. Some mandatory units may be assessed by external exams.


PROGRESSION OPPORTUNITIES

After completing this course, you'll be well-prepared for further study in the travel and aviation industry, such as a study programme at Level 2.

  • Practical Skills Development, including:
    - Hands-on training in the mock aircraft cabin and check-in area
    - Role-playing scenarios to practice customer service and safety procedures
    - Real-time feedback and assessments from instructors

Adult Students (19+)

If you will be aged 19 or older on 31 August before your course starts, are resident in London, and have the legal right to stay in the UK for at least 12 months, you may be eligible to study for free, depending on your circumstances and chosen course. For more information, please click here.
