If you have a passion for creativity and are eager to explore the world of media production, our Level 1 Creative Media Production course is your perfect starting point. This course is designed to help you explore your creativity and build practical skills through media-based projects, with a focus on digital, video and sound tecghniques. You will experiment with different techniques and work in different genres while developing your confidence and preparing for further study in media production. This course offers a hands-on introduction to a variety of media tools & techniques, preparing you to take your first steps towards a career in the creative industries or to progress to further study.
Throughout this course, you will:
- Explore video production and photography, creating content that showcases your visual and storytelling ideas
- Gain practical experience by producing creative media projects.
This course offers a perfect balance of practical skills and creative exploration, helping you develop a diverse portfolio of work. Whether you are interested in pursuing a career in TV, film or online media production this qualification will provide the skills and knowledge needed to take your creativity to the next level.
It is recommended that you have:
- Four GCSEs at grade 2 or above, including English and maths
or
- Functional Skills in English and maths at Entry Level 3
At enrolment, you will have an interview with our course tutors to ensure the course is right for you.
You may also need to complete an initial assessment in English and maths, depending on your grades.
You will produce both practical and written work for assessment.
This course will help you to move on to higher level courses, such as Creative Media Production Level 2.

- Unit 1 Introduction to materials, processes and skills in art, design and media
- Unit 2 Introduction to contextual research in art, design and media
- Unit 3 Introduction to communication skills in art, design and media
- Unit 4 Solving 2D creative problems
- Unit 5 Solving 3D creative problems
- Unit 6 Solving time-based creative problems
- Unit 7 Art, design and media project - Level 1
Note: The units are 'generic' so make reference to Art & Design, but the course delivery will focus on the Media aspects only.
School Leavers (16-18)
If you will be 16, 17 or 18 years old on 31 August before your course starts, and you have the legal right to live in the UK for the full length of your study programme, your course will be free.

As part of your studies, you will be required to maintain a basic kit, which includes essential tools such as a range of pencips and pens, an A4 notepad, a pair of headphones/earphones and a 32gb SD card (class 10). We also recommend you purchase a 1TB hard drive (with USB-A and USB-C adaptors) with protective case, to store and transport your digital design files.
