GCSE Maths is a core subject and is essential for further education, employment and everyday life skills.
Daytime classes are available at Hammersmith & Fulham College, Ealing Green College and Southall Community College. We also have evening classes available at both Hammersmith & Fulham College and Ealing Green College.
It is recommended that you have:
- GCSE Maths at grade 3 or Functional Skills at Level 2
​If you do not have any qualifications, you will be asked to take an online assessment.
This course is assessed through homework, class test, midterm test, and mock exams.
Final assessment is an external exam with Edexcel awarding body. This usually consists of three written exams, each 1.5 hours long. One paper is non-calculator; the other two allow calculators.
Successful students may progress to AS Level mathematics or progress onto Level 3 vocational course.
GCSE Maths is a requirement for many careers.
GCSE maths is now a mandatory requirement for many Higher Education courses.
Examination entry is dependent on work done throughout the year and the results of tests done in December and April; attendance of 85% is also a requirement for exam entry. The examinations take place in May/June. The exam board is Edexcel and the specification is linear.
GCSE Maths is available at two levels:
- Foundation (grades 1 - 5)
- Higher (grades 4 - 9)

Adult Students (19+)
If you will be aged 19 or older on 31 August before your course starts, are resident in London, and have the legal right to stay in the UK for at least 12 months, you may be eligible to study for free, depending on your circumstances and chosen course. For more information, please click here.

GCSEs in English and maths are fully-funded by the UK government, providing you have not already achieved a grade 4 or above (grade C).
