The OCNLR Award in Awareness of Mental Health and Wellbeing provides all people not involved with the delivery of mental health services, with an understanding of mental health and its issues.
The Awards aim to raise awareness of mental health issues and how to foster good mental health and wellbeing. The aim is to remove the stigma of mental health by providing an understanding of issues surrounding it. This qualifications is useful as a route into Health and Social care and for all people who have contact with the general public through everyday living, including carers, both in domestic and residential care settings, and those providing public services, such as, education, housing, transport and retail, both in employed and voluntary capacities.
You will need:
- GCSE English at grade 3 or above or Level 1 English Functional Skills
You will also have an interview with our course tutors at enrolment, so we can ensure the course is right for you.
The assessment process for this qualifications is as follows:
- the learners are assessed through activities that are internally set by tutor/assessors;
- activities that are designed to enable learners to meet the assessment criteria of the unit;
- portfolios of assessed evidence moderated at the College;
- the portfolios of assessed evidence will also be externally moderated by an OCN London External Moderator.
The qualification provides a sound basis for learners to progress to Level 3 qualifications, including Access to Higher Education Diplomas in health and social care subjects, apprenticeships, or to enter employment.
This qualification is suitable for learners who may wish to study this subject or related Health & Social Care subjest at a greater depth. Whether you are seeking personal development or aiming to kickstart a career in healthcare or social work, this course will provide you with a good understanding of how to foster good mental health & well-being.
Through engaging modules and interactive activities, you will gain valuable insights into key topics such as nutrition, exercise, stress management, and mental health awareness. This course will be delivered over 8 weeks for 2 hours per session in class by an experienced teacher. The material includes exam questions & answers, study and other resources to support your learning.
School Leavers (16-18)
If you will be 16, 17 or 18 years old on 31 August before your course starts, and you have the legal right to live in the UK for the full length of your study programme, your course will be free.

Adult Students (19+)
If you will be aged 19 or older on 31 August before your course starts, are resident in London, and have the legal right to stay in the UK for at least 12 months, you may be eligible to study for free, depending on your circumstances and chosen course. For more information, please click here.
