Enterprise and Communication aims to support young people with Autism while preparing them for the transition into adulthood with the use of proactive, holistic, flexible and evidence based approaches. We provide young people with a low level arousal and very structured environment that supports the development of their mind and body.
The curriculum is designed for young people to form an understanding of the world around them. Including how to relate to others, communicate, be creative and manage their anxieties. Students are supported to master tasks and learn skills for ‘doing’ and ‘thinking’ building on their independence skills and allowing them to take active part in their communities.
This course has been designed for students with SEND.
Before enrolment, students will meet our course tutors to ensure the course is right for them. They may also need to complete an initial assessment in English and maths, depending on their grades.
If a student has an EHCP (Education, Health and Care Plan), we will need a formal consultation with the Local Authority who issued it, prior to enrolment.
This course is accredited through OCN (Open College Network). Evidence is gathered throughout the year and is submitted in a portfolio which is externally verified.
You will have the opportunity to develop your communication and independent skills through accessing specialist teaching and resources. Learners' work will be externally accredited and certified.
