TV & Film Production - Level 3

Suitable For: 16-18
Available at: Ealing Green College
ABOUT THIS COURSE

Are you passionate about storytelling, film, and digital media? Our TV and Film Production - Level 3 is the perfect course if you interested in pursuing a career in the dynamic and ever-evolving creative media industries.

Whether you dream of becoming a filmmaker, like Sir Steve McQueen CBE (who studied here), editor, media entrepreneur, like the late Jamal Edwards MBE (who also studied here) or content creator, this course provides the skills and experience needed to start your journey.

You'll study the UAL Level 3 Diploma in Creative Media Production and Technology, which provides a comprehensive foundation for careers in the creative media industry. For aspiring online journalists, podcasters and social media content creators, this course offers a unique blend of technical skills, creative thinking and industry knowledge.

Equivalent to three A Levels, you'll gain the skills, knowledge, and industry connections to take your next step - whether that’s straight into work or onto university.

The course strikes the perfect balance between theoretical study and practical application. You’ll explore everything from pre-production techniques and single-camera filming to editing and interactive media production. The emphasis is on real-world skills that are directly transferable to the workplace.

As part of the course, you’ll develop a professional showreel and portfolio of production work. This will help you showcase your abilities to potential employers or universities, setting you apart in a competitive industry.

You’ll also benefit from industry involvement through trips, workshops, and work experience opportunities. Our in-house production company provides a platform for hands-on learning, giving you direct insight into the media production process.

Extended Diplomas are made up of two separate qualifications - to earn the maximum UCAS points for university acceptance, you must achieve both. After you've successfully completed Year 1, you'll be enrolled onto Year 2.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

You will need:

  • Four GCSEs grade 4 or above, including English and maths
    or
  • A relevant Level 2 qualification and Functional Skills in English and maths at Level 2

You will also have an interview with our course tutors at enrolment, so we can ensure the course is right for you.

ASSESSMENT METHOD

Your assessments are designed to match what you’ve learned. All your work will be marked by your tutors, giving you a chance to show off your skills in real-world situations.

You’ll be graded on a scale of Distinction, Merit, Pass, or Unclassified. This grading system helps you see how well you’re doing and where you can improve.

You’ll build a portfolio of your coursework, showcasing your progress throughout the course. Plus, you’ll get hands-on experience through practical assignments and receive feedback from your tutors. Some mandatory units may be assessed by external exams.
