Supported Internship - Hammersmith & Fulham Council

Suitable For: 16-18 , 19+
Available at: Hammersmith & Fulham College
ABOUT THIS COURSE

The course is designed to develop transferable skills, knowledge and attitudes in readiness for paid employment. The programme is unique in its approach, in that the whole programme is based at an employer’s location. Students will develop Employability, Customer Service, Confidence, Maths, English and ICT whilst working alongside real employees in a real employment setting.

The course is the final step of your education journey prior to finding full-time paid employment.

This course will develop you as an employee; you will gain confidence, whilst learning real skills alongside real employees in a large employment setting. You will be supported to develop your work skills by a Job Coach, and workplace buddies. Your academic studies will include Maths and English which will be supported by a Tutor. During your programme you will complete three job rotations where you will develop different skills required by the employer.

You will study off site with Hammersmith and Fulham Council and L'Oreal.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Ideally you will be in your final year of education. You will be able to demonstrate some work readiness and have aspirations to secure employment.

ASSESSMENT METHOD

All students will compile a portfolio of evidence that will contain a mixture of photographs, witness statements, personal statements and course work. The portfolios are internally assessed and verified prior to external verification by an Awarding Body.

Most students will be entered for Functional Skills English and Maths live assessments at the level indicated during initial assessments and verified through continuous diagnostic assessments.

PROGRESSION OPPORTUNITIES

During the programme all students will receive expert advice and guidance that will prepare them for real work. It is hoped that all will secure full time paid work.

All students will receive ongoing support beyond the programme to support them into work.

WHAT WILL I STUDY?

You will receive practical coaching using the Systematic Training Model; meaning tasks will be broken down into small manageable chunks to aid your understanding. There will be classroom sessions; however, these will be at the employers location and will not exceed 6 hours per week. This is a hands on programme that uses real work environments to develop your skills.
