Our Level 2 Plumbing course is a comprehensive programme designed to give you the essential skills, knowledge, and confidence to succeed in the plumbing and building services industry. Whether your goal is to work on domestic, industrial, or commercial systems, this course will equip you with everything you need to kickstart your career.
Plumbing is an extremely well-paid profession with various career routes a qualified plumber can follow. Whether specialising in gas, domestic plumbing, or focusing on green skills such as installing and maintaining heat source air pumps, plumbers enjoy a steady stream of well-paid and interesting work.
This full-time course focuses on practical skills, safety, and industry standards to prepare you for a wide range of career opportunities. You will leave with the expertise needed to pursue an apprenticeship, further training, or direct employment in the sector.
As part of this programme, you will:
- Develop and practise the skills required for employment and career progression in plumbing

- Study a balanced programme that includes employability training, ensuring you are well-prepared for future opportunities
- Maintain a strong focus on health and safety, ensuring your work is both professional and safe
By the end of the programme, you will have a comprehensive understanding of plumbing systems, the confidence to tackle real-world challenges, and the qualifications needed to stand out to employers.
This course is predominantly for 16 - 18 with a limited number of spaces for 19+.
You should have:
- Four GCSEs at grade 3 or above, including English and maths at grade 3 or Functional Skills Level 1 qualifications
or - A relevant Level 1 course and Functional Skills Level 1 in English and maths.
At enrolment, you will have an interview with our course tutors to ensure the course is right for you.
You may also need to complete an initial assessment in English and maths, depending on your grades.
Your assessments are designed to match what you have learned. All your work will be marked by your tutors, giving you a chance to show off your skills in real-world situations.
You will be graded on a scale of Distinction, Merit, Pass, or Unclassified. This grading system helps you see how well you are doing and where you can improve.
You will build a portfolio of your coursework, showcasing your progress throughout the course. Plus, you will get hands-on experience through practical assignments and receive feedback from your tutors. Some mandatory units may be assessed by external exams.
There are various pathways at Level 2 and Level 3 that focus on both domestic and commercial plumbing installation and maintenance practices. Candidates who gain employment as a plumber can progress to the NVQ Diploma 6189.
Learners also have the opportunity to advance to the Level 3 qualification, complete a Construction Health & Safety course, and take the Employers Rights and Responsibilities (ERR) module.
Our qualifications are designed to lead directly into employment, allowing learners to develop their skills and knowledge to a high standard recognized by the Plumbing Industry.

School Leavers (16-18)
If you will be 16, 17 or 18 years old on 31 August before your course starts, and you have the legal right to live in the UK for the full length of your study programme, your course will be free.
