Construction Skills for Adults - Entry Level 3

ABOUT THIS COURSE

This is a fast-track programme for adults, offered across the academic year. You will study multiply trades include plumbing, electrical, carpentry, brickwork, plastering and floor and wall tiling.

This is a great start to anyone wanting to develop a range of construction skills for the building trade. You can join in either September, November and February. This course is 3 days a week in the afternoon.

You will also receive information, advice and guidance on further qualifications, apprenticeships and jobs in related trades, and gain a wide range of transferable skills needed for the workplace.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

You will need an interest in developing a range of skills for the construction industry.

You will also need:

  • English and maths at Entry Level 3, or working towards Level 1

If you do not hold English and maths qualifications, we will assess you at enrolment. 

ASSESSMENT METHOD

Portfolio - either written or word processed.
Engagement in practical sessions.
100% attendance, polite and professional behaviour at all times.

PROGRESSION OPPORTUNITIES

Progression routes will include full time courses at college; part time courses at college; apprenticeship routes; employment and higher education.

Professional careers in a range of professional trades in the construction industry.

WHAT WILL I STUDY?

Mostly practical activities and workshops with some classroom time to ensure you understand the theory behind the practice.

You will take part in practical workshops and classroom theory sessions throughout your course. You will have a variety of opportunities to try out tools and equipment and learn about different specialisms.

The trade is changing considerably with increasing need for buildings to become more energy efficient, you will be exposed to new technology such as wall insulation and the relationship between low carbon energies and how to construct a building to use and lose less energy.

Adult Students (19+)

If you will be aged 19 or older on 31 August before your course starts, are resident in London, and have the legal right to stay in the UK for at least 12 months, you may be eligible to study for free, depending on your circumstances and chosen course. For more information, please click here.
