This course is designed to upskill applicants who have already gained a full level 2 in their chosen trade.
Aquiring an understanding of Retrofit requirements in the Construction industry is an integral aspect of your future apprenticeship and is crucial to informing your choice of apprenticeship pathway. You will gain new knowledge of future requirements of the main trades as they seek to design and refurbish the built environment to support carbon reducing targets.
You will also recieve support and guidance to help you secure an apprenticeship. This will include:
- improving your CV to get you noticed,
- writing an engaging letter of application,
- practicing your interview skills and
- meeting a range of employers that can guide you.
You will need a full level 2 qualification in a relevant craft or building services trade and an ambition to progress into work or an apprenticeship.
Assessment will be based on your practical work, written assignments and portfolio.
This course is designed as part of your route map into a career in construction. Your next steps is securing an apprenticeship in your chosen trade.
You may wish to progress in to higher level courses across the construction industry to include electrical, plastering and brickwork, plumbing, heating and refrigeration qualifications to include wider Green Skills initiatives.
Classroom based with practical and theory sessions.
Practical workshops, classroom based theory sessions, group work, team activities, meeting external employers, independent research and online self study.

School Leavers (16-18)
If you will be 16, 17 or 18 years old on 31 August before your course starts, and you have the legal right to live in the UK for the full length of your study programme, your course will be free.
